On May 21, 2024, the delegation from Donghua University (DHU) led by Vice President Professor Zhao Zhen undertook a visit to the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Asia-Pacific Graduate Institute (SJTU-APGI). Accompanying him were Prof. Zhang Yaopeng, Director of DHU Human Resources Office; Mr. Li Binrong, Chairperson of DHU College of Materials Science and Engineering; Mr. Tang Junfeng, Director of DHU Assets Management Office; Ms. Xie Xuhong, Vice Director of DHU Institute of Science and Technology and A/Prof. Yang Shengyuan, Vice Director of DHU International Cooperation Office.

During the visit, Professor Xu Min, Vice Dean of SJTU-APGI, delivered a presentation detailing the historical background, vision, and milestones of SJTU-APGI. She also provided an overview of the Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE), emphasized the achievements of the “Energy and Environmentally Sustainable Solutions for Megacities (E2S2)” programme and introduced the newly launched “Carbon Negative Synthetic Biology for Biomaterial Production from CO₂ (CNSB)” programme, outlining its objectives and framework. After the presentation, the delegation visited the office and laboratory facilities for both the E2S2 and CNSB programmes.

VP Zhao believes that it is very challenging to remain active on the CREATE platform, which requires a high degree of innovation and forward-thinking. He praised SJTU for its development in Singapore, recognizing its significant achievements in technological innovation and international collaboration.
