SJTU-APGI expands its partnership networks into Malaysia, July 2022

SJTU-APGI and its Southeast Asia Center is dedicated to growing their network with partners across Southeast Asia and forging stable and meaningful relationships across industries. In view of this objective, SJTU-APGI Dean Professor Peng Yinghong, Vice Dean Meng Jia, Senior Administrative Executive Chong Tai Khoon, and Southeast Asia Center Assistant Director Zhou Jindao, visited various potential partners in Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru in July 2022.


The institutions visited were Xiamen University Malaysia Campus (XMUM), Nanyang Learning Hub (NLH), as well as EduCity Iskandar. During this official visit, SJTU-APGI had benefited through XMUM’s sharing of experience in running an overseas campus, as well as managed to extend its reach to several Malaysian partners to promote its programs. 


The visit to XMUM was cordially hosted by the President of the university, Professor Wang Ruifang, as well as directors and managers of relevant departments. XMUM provided a tour of the campus, a comprehensive introduction of the university, as well as valuable insights to the educational landscape in Malaysia. 




The meeting with Nanyang Learning Hub, an educational institution well acquainted with the educational, economic and socio-cultural scene in Malaysia, saw discussions on potential modes of collaboration. The two parties came to an agreement to sign an MOU, marking a significant milestone for APGI in its network growth into Southeast Asia.





As the third and final stop of this visit, APGI met up with EduCity Iskandar in mid-July. Marketed as ‘Asia’s First Multi-campus Education City’, the EduCity campus currently hosts universities from across UK to Singapore. Managing Director Wan Ahmad Saifuddin introduced the APGI team to a few of EduCity’s facilities such as the sports complex, student residences, pharmaceutical research laboratories, classrooms and lecture halls. APGI had an insightful discussion with EduCity’s senior committee, and both parties will endeavour to deepen their relationship in view of potential developments.
