E2S2-CREATE Holds 10th Steering Committee Meeting

On 4 and 5 May 2023, the 10th meeting of the Steering Committee for the "Energy and Environmental Sustainability Solutions for Megacities" (E2S2-CREATE) project, a large-scale research program between Shanghai Jiao Tong University(SJTU) and Singaporean partners such as National University of Singapore, was held in Shanghai, China.


The 10th meeting of the E2S2 Steering Committee was chaired by Xu Xuemin, Chairman of the Steering Committee and also the Vice President of SJTU. Professor Peng Yinghong, Project Director of E2S2 and Dean of the SJTU Asia-Pacific Graduate Institute(SJTU-APGI), and Tong Yen Wah, Co-Director of the project, presented the progress of the project. The meeting reviewed the research and financial reports of the project, discussed certain related issues, and reviewed the project's achievements. Some key performance indicators of the project were exceeded, particularly in terms of achievement translation, which provided good demonstration applications for Singapore and Shanghai. Xu Xuemin expressed gratitude to the research and management team of the program and stated that the research achievements of E2S2 would be actively explored and applied in the construction of the Chongming International Campus, SJTU to promote low-carbon initiatives in the new campus. The delegation then visited some relevant laboratories.


The delegation attending the meeting included Liu Bin, Executive Vice President of the National University of Singapore; Subodh Mhaisalkar, Director of the Singapore National Research Foundation's CREATE program; Tan Cheng Guan, Head, Renewables & Environment Business of SembCorp Group; Satish Appoo, Group Director, Joint Operations &Technology, National Environment Agency; George Loh, Senior Director, Collaboration &Partnership, Office of the Senior Deputy President & Provost of the National University of Singapore; Tong Yen Wah, Co-Director of the E2S2 project and professor at the National University of Singapore; and Dr. Lee Yih Hong, Head, Foundational Research Capabilities of CREATE, National Research Foundation. Yang Zhenbin, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Zhu Xinyuan, the Vice President, attended the welcome ceremony.
