Mission

SJTU-SAC is established to be a platform and a framework for SJTU to lead initiatives and activities in Southeast Asia, or with partners and sponsors from the region, and to ultimately increase SJTU’s impact in Southeast Asia, by:

  • Facilitating collaboration with regional public units, universities and schools, organizations and businesses;
  • Promoting access for SJTUers to shape their global vision, to explore cutting-edge scientific research; and
  • Assisting in adequately engaging SJTU with multicultural exchanges and enhance the reputation in Southeast Asia.

Partners & Programs

  • Mahidol University

    Dual bachelor; Research Collaboration; SJTU Students Global Challenge Program
    Belt and Road Science and Technology Innovation network
    Based on the Mahidol University and SJTU MOU signed in Dec 2017, Mahidol University has signed an agreement as part of the “Belt and Road Science and Technology Innovation Network” launched by SJTU in March 2018. Mahidol University and SJTU would make efforts to explore further collaboration in research, especially in establishing a joint laboratory.
         
    Dual Bachelor and Short-Term Program
    In June 2019, SJTU’s School of Humanities and Mahidol University have jointly carried out a Dual Bachelor’s Program and a short-term Chinese Language study program . In the same year, more than 20 students from Mahidol University have participated in SJTU Summer program.

    Field Study on Environmental Policies of Mekong River and Chao Phraya River Pollution in Thailand
    In Aug 2018, the School of Environmental Science and Engineering of SJTU, together with Mahidol University, carried out a field study program on Thailand’s local environmental policies of water pollution in Mekong River and Chao Phraya River, 
  • Chiang Mai University

    Research Collaboration
    Joint Research Center; Workshop
    In Dec 2018, SJTU and Chiang Mai University have signed a collaboration agreement to establish a Joint Centre for Sustainable Energy. At the same time, the 9th China-Thailand Workshop on Sustainable Energy, supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, was held successfully.
  • Universiti Teknologi Malaysia

    SJTU Students Global Challenge Program
    Malaysia-China Innovative Practice on Sustainable Development Resource Recycling
    Under the assistance of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, a team of 10 students from the School of Environmental Science and Engineering of SJTU participated in a field trip in Malaysia in August 2019. Based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, the team visited institutes, primary schools, enterprises, governments and communities to better understand the urban sustainable development model in Malaysia and their roles within it. Besides SJTU, the program was carried out also by a delegation consisting of members from UTM, Ritsumeikan University, and Seoul National University of Science and Technology.
