On January 17, 2025, a Seminar on Hydrogen
Science was held at the CNSB Meeting Room in CREATE Tower, featuring
Academician Ding Wenjiang from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Academician Ding,
a prominent researcher with over 35 years of experience in advanced
magnesium-based alloy materials and precision forming, shared his extensive
expertise during the event. As the Director of the Center of Hydrogen Science
(CHS) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, he has spearheaded groundbreaking
research in hydrogen energy, medicine, and agronomy since the center's
establishment in June 2018.
The seminar began with Academician Ding recounting the evolution of his research focus, reflecting the technological and industrial growth of China. He delved into his pioneering work on degradable magnesium alloys for biomedical applications, highlighting the development of advanced prototypes for bone implants and cardiovascular stents that meet international standards. His presentation captivated the audience and inspired researchers with his innovative approach and commitment to pushing the boundaries of material science.
Professor Peng Yinghong, Dean of SJTU-APGI and Programme Director of CNSB-CREATE, provided a brief overview of the research background and recent progress of the CNSB programme. Following the seminar, he accompanied Academician Ding on a visit to the CNSB laboratories. Impressed by the facilities, Ding praised CREATE as an exceptional platform for fostering collaboration between Shanghai Jiao Tong University and other top universities worldwide. He encouraged the team to engage in deeper communication and interdisciplinary collaboration to advance their research endeavours.
The seminar was attended by an esteemed
group of academics and researchers, including Professor Yang Haiyan, Party
Secretary of the Center of Hydrogen Science; Professor He Yiliang, Vice Dean
of SJTU China-UK Low Carbon College; Professor Xu Ping, Scientific
Director of CNSB programme; and Professors
He Ya-Wen, Li Yuehui, and Shi Leilei, co-investigators of the CNSB programme.
Researchers and students from CNSB also participated in the event, contributing
to a vibrant and interactive exchange of ideas.
