On November 27, 2024, a delegation from
Nanjing University, led by Chair of the University Council Professor Tan
Tieniu, visited Singapore National Research Foundation (NRF) and SJTU
Asia-Pacific Graduate Institute (SJTU-APGI). The delegation included Professor
Zhu Jia, Dean of the School of Sustainable Energy and Resources; Professor Li
Ming, Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence; Professor Wu Jinhui, Vice
Dean of the Medical School; Mr. Zhu Xiaoyi, Vice Dean of the Institute for
International Students; and Ms. Deng Yunyi, Program Manager of the
International Affairs Office.
Professor Peng Yinghong, Dean of SJTU-APGI, provided an overview of the institute's history, mission, and key milestones. His presentation emphasized the institute's achievements within the CREATE programme, highlighting notable initiatives such as the "Energy and Environmentally Sustainable Solutions for Megacities (E2S2)" and the recently launched "Carbon Negative Synthetic Biology for Biomaterial Production from CO₂ (CNSB)" programme, showcasing their goals and significant progress.
Prof. Tan emphasized the value of
drawing from SJTU-APGI’s experiences and expressed aspirations for Nanjing
University to build partnerships with universities in Singapore and SJTU-APGI,
leveraging support from NRF to promote meaningful collaborations. His visit underscored the importance of
strengthening ties and encouraged further collaborative efforts.
The meeting was attended by key personnel, including Professor Xu Min, Vice Dean of SJTU-APGI; Dr. Poh Wei Theng, Deputy Director of International Relations in NRF; Professors Xu Ping, Scientific Director of CNSB programme, Professor Miao Xiaoling, and Professor Li Yuehui, co-investigators of the CNSB programme; Mr. Hans Lim, Deputy Head of Academic Research in NRF; as well as CNSB researchers and students.
