The delegation from Shanghai Municipal Education Commission led by Director Dr Zhou Yaming visits SJTU-APGI

November 26, 2024 – A delegation from Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, led by Director Dr. Zhou Yaming, visited SJTU Asia-Pacific Graduate Institute (SJTU-APGI). The delegation included senior officials: Sha Jun, Director of General Office; Zhou Qinjian, Director of International Exchange Department; Fan Renhua, Deputy Director of Scientific Research Department; Sun Yong, Deputy Director of Higher Education Department; and Min Yue, Program Officer in International Exchange Department.

Professor Peng Yinghong, Dean of SJTU-APGI, presented an overview of the institute’s history, mission, and accomplishments, emphasizing its achievements in the CREATE programme. Key highlights included the "Energy and Environmentally Sustainable Solutions for Megacities (E2S2)" initiative and the recently launched "Carbon Negative Synthetic Biology for Biomaterial Production from CO₂ (CNSB)" programme. 

Following the meeting, the delegation toured the CNSB research laboratory, where Professor Peng introduced the newly developed Electromagnetically-Photobioreactor, showcasing its innovative role in advancing CNSB’s research goals.

The visit concluded at the Antai Asia Pacific Centre, which was inaugurated on December 9, 2023. Accompanied by Professor Xu Min and Professor Xi Junfang, both Vice Dean of SJTU-APGI, the delegation explored the Centre’s contributions to education and leadership development in Singapore. Professor Xi highlighted Antai's educational initiatives, emphasizing its role in fostering regional talent and advancing management expertise, further demonstrating the integration of education and research within SJTU's global strategy.

 

Dr. Zhou commended SJTU-APGI as a well-established platform in Singapore, recognized for its significant role in advancing international education and research. He expressed strong interest in exploring further collaborations with SJTU-APGI in the areas of education, training, and research.
