On November 18, 2024, a delegation from
Tsinghua University (THU), led by Vice President Professor Jiang Peixue,
visited SJTU Asia-Pacific Graduate Institute (SJTU-APGI) and the CNSB programme
office in Singapore. The delegation included Professor Xu Ruina, Dean of THU Department of Energy and Power
Engineering; Professor Li Shuiqing, Associate Dean of THU Research &
Development Affairs Office / Department of Energy and Power Engineering; Professor
Wang Zhe, Associate Dean of THU Institute of Carbon Neutrality; Professor Wang Shujuan,
Associate Dean of THU Department of Energy and Power Engineering; Assoc
Professor Tan Lei, Associate Party Secretary of THU Department of Energy and
Power Engineering; Assoc Professor Ren Dongxiao, Associate Dean of THU Department
of Energy and Power Engineering; Assoc Professor Wang Xiaonan, THU Department
of Chemical Engineering.
During the visit, Professor Peng Yinghong, Dean of SJTU-APGI, delivered a comprehensive presentation outlining the institute's historical background, vision, and significant milestones. He highlighted SJTU's involvement in the CREATE programme, emphasizing the achievements of the "Energy and Environmentally Sustainable Solutions for Megacities (E2S2)" initiative. Additionally, Professor Peng introduced the newly launched "Carbon Negative Synthetic Biology for Biomaterial Production from CO2 (CNSB)" programme, providing an overview of its goals and structure.
Professor Jiang Peixue praised SJTU-APGI's
integrated approach to education and research, commending its achievements and
operational model. He expressed enthusiasm for exploring further collaborative
opportunities between Tsinghua University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University in
education, research, and sustainability-focused initiatives.
Professor Xu Min, Vice Dean of SJTU-APGI and Ms Loh Chin Siew, Senior Associate Director (ODPRT), NUS also participated in the meeting.
