New Materials Innovation Southeast Asia Center
Overview

Established by the School of Materials Science and Engineering (SMSE) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in July 2025, the New Materials Innovation Southeast Asia Center represents SMSE's first overseas presence. Building upon the School's strong foundation of cooperation within Southeast Asia and its established "Deep Cooperation Circle," the Center strategically leverages Singapore's prime location and supportive policies.
Focused on key areas including international scientific research collaboration, high-end training, and talent recruitment, the Center drives technological innovation and facilitates talent mobility throughout the region. It aims to enhance industrial innovation capabilities for both sides, while simultaneously strengthening SMSE's global academic reputation and international collaboration capabilities, fostering shared growth and advancement.

Key Areas of Work:

1.Establishing a Research Hub: Providing a dedicated research entity to foster and enhance international scientific collaboration in Southeast Asia.

2.Organizing Advanced Training: Delivering high-end professional programs to advance industrial innovation capabilities for both regions.

3.Serving as a Global Showcase: Acting as a prominent platform to attract top-tier global talents to the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
