The LCC Southeast Asia Center was established by the China-UK Low Carbon College (LCC) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University in April 2025. Leveraging Singapore’s strategic location and supportive policy environment, the Center is dedicated to addressing the green transition needs of Southeast Asia and building a new platform for international cooperation in the low-carbon sector aligned with the Belt and Road Initiative.
Focusing on international postgraduate education, research collaboration, and executive training, the Center aims to drive low-carbon technological innovation and talent mobility across Southeast Asia, contributing to regional sustainable development and enhancing LCC’s academic reputation and international collaboration capabilities in the global low-carbon sector.
1.Develop international postgraduate education and exchange programs tailored to Southeast Asia.
2.Promote joint research initiatives and establish collaborative research projects and laboratories.
3.Build a regional hub offering customized low-carbon training programs for governments, enterprises, and universities.
4.Recruit and nurture young international talents in the low-carbon field.
5.Establish a platform for policy and technology exchange between China and Southeast Asia in the low-carbon sector.
The China-UK Low Carbon College (LCC) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University is a pioneering joint initiative in the field of low carbon between two world renowned universities – Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the University of Edinburgh, with strong support from the Shanghai Municipal Government. As China’s first low-carbon college, LCC is dedicated to cultivating top-tier, interdisciplinary, and international talents in the low-carbon sector, conducting cutting-edge and innovative research, providing executive training for governments and low-carbon enterprises, and fostering the application of low-carbon technologies. On April 15th, 2025, the LCC Southeast Asia Center was inaugurated by Yang Zhenbin, Party Secretary of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Han Jun, Minister-Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Singapore.
