Established by Shanghai Jiao Tong University in December 2025, the International Technology Transfer Southeast Asia Center (ITT SAC) represents SJTU’s first technology transfer platform in the Southeast Asia region. Building upon the strong foundation of SJTU Asia-Pacific Graduate Institute, the Center strategically leverages Singapore’s prime location and supportive policies as a regional innovation hub, focusing on key areas including international scientific research collaboration, IP transfer, joint research, and joint ventures. It aims to establish a “borderless” channel for innovation commercialization, serving as a vital hub for Chinese enterprises seeking overseas technologies and a gateway for Southeast Asian tech startups entering the Chinese market.
1.IP Transfer: Establish a patent sharing pool and jointly promote transfer and transformation based on advantageous resources.
2.Joint Research: Combine the strengths of both sides and regional needs to carry out targeted joint R&D and promote application implementation.
3.Joint Venture: Encourage faculty members who conduct collaborative research to start joint ventures, and provide convenience for faculty to establish businesses in the counterparty region.
The International Technology Transfer Southeast Asia Center is committed to becoming a vital hub connecting China and Southeast Asia’s innovation ecosystems. The Center will continue to deepen strategic partnerships with leading regional institutions such as Nanyang Technological University and National University of Singapore, expanding the scale of collaboration, enhancing patent commercialization efficiency, and incubating internationally competitive technology companies.
Through establishing a “deep integration” cooperation mechanism, the Center will drive joint breakthroughs in cutting-edge technology fields and accelerate the commercialization of innovative achievements from laboratory to market. The Center serves not only as a window for Chinese enterprises to access international advanced technologies, but also as a bridge for Southeast Asian innovation resources entering the Chinese market.
